Shelved Project

June, 2011 | Flash

Every once in a while I will rummage through my system for misplaced, forgotten or abandoned projects. Today I came across the iHalcyon project from last year. I shelved this project over the little hick up effect with the looping video in the header section. Everyone I showed it to gave it a thumbs up, some even hinted how it would be a great banner of cloud computing. My children would sit at my desk and just stare at it. Their mom said it has a calming effect. All I can see is that half second delay, which I found to be quite disturbing.

The other issue I griped over was how it loads on a live server. Adding a pre-loader would affect the overall aesthetics. On the other hand it is a video that I embedded in a layer of a Flash file. No matter what I did, it was bound to have loading issues. In any event, I ended up dropping it for some other project. I did implement a Mega-menu under the service link before moving on. If you want to view it, click the image above or this link. If you want to tinker with it, fine. I’ve included the .fla file in the download link.
