The creative process usually begins with information gathering. Documenting the exact ideas the client wants to convey is an essential part of starting a new project. The next step is to create a mockup that will compliment the client’s ideas. Some designers like to sketch first, I prefer to start the mockup process on the digital platform. It’s more effective for my approach.

The third step is developing a static version (flat HTML files) of the project for backup and future plans. Suppose the client wants to switch to a different content management system altogether. Not only will a Photoshop mockup be on hand, a functional static version of the site will also be available to smooth out the transition.

Last but not least is converting the static version to a content management system theme. Upon completion, the theme will be tested on multiple browsers and validated before going live. During this entire process, the client is updated regularly on all of the changes.
